Whenever I have to clean up after dinner (again), pick up toys (again) or stop what I’m doing because someone bonked their head (again) I understand why it took women so freaking long to get the vote. They had a lot going on at all times! Nevertheless, they persisted. And I do too. Lately, I’ve been writing the story of my Suffs not as a novel, but as narrative non-fiction, really leaning into their personal experiences and blending their own words with mine.
